The art program in our school is instructed to grades Pre-K to 8th with
a focus on the guidelines from the Archdiocese curriculum. We also create
art lessons with influences on each grade-topic like science, social studies,
religion and language arts.
Other art formats in the school include the Art Club. We meet once a
week after school to create independent artwork. The students help with
some of the scenery for school plays and performances throughout the
year too.
As the art teacher, I produce decorative window displays for the
school that reflect seasonal ideas. The ArtMobile exhibits, banner
displays, with a focus on famous artists, and keeping a student artwork
display area fresh with new artwork are projects done annually for the
whole school. There are art contest projects brought in from the
community that brings recognition to students that participate. New this
year is a service project table in the art room. This area offers students
projects that need to be assembled and collected to send to our community
organizations that can use their craft for display or give away.
The school art program moves in many directions throughout the year
and enjoys participating in all areas of the world of art.
